  • Part 1 is an introduction to Teaching and Learning in relation to the qualities of an effective teacher.  It is based on the work of Christopher Day, professor of Education at University of Nottingham, England.

The observed qualities discussed are research based and linked to Asian Hope's core values.

Each quality forms a topic within the course with a reflection forum in each.

It is important to share your thoughts in the reflection forum. I look forward to reading them :)

  • In Part 1 we looked at Day's research on effective teaching from a Biblical perspective.

Part 2 looks at how we should then 'be' as a consequence of this research and in light of Asain Hope's core values.

  • During the last school year [2014 - 15] the Asian hope Schools have been focusing on learning and assessment. The two concepts are closely linked of course and we believe that assessment's primary role is to improve learning.

The AHIS Primary PLCs have been reading Damian Cooper's Book, 'Redefining Fair - How to plan, assess abd grade for excellence in mixed ability classrooms.' It is an amazing book - practical and very thought provoking.

    2 chapters are shared here:

Chapeter 8: How should assessment be matched to students' needs?

Chapter 9: How do I grade learning in the mixed ability class?

If you would like a copy of the book please let Pam know when you arrive.
